It is permissible for the pregnant or breastfeeding woman to break her fast if she fears over herself or her child. This is by agreement of the four schools of jurisprudence.
Secondly: If the pregnant or breastfeeding woman breaks her fast fearing for themselves
If the pregnant or breastfeeding woman breaks her fast out of fear over themselves, then they have to make up the days. This is the position of the majority: Hanafis, Shafi`is, and Hanbalis.
Thirdly: If the pregnant or breastfeeding woman breaks her fast fearing for her child
If the pregnant or breastfeeding woman breaks her fast out of fear over their child's wellbeing, then they only have to make up the days. This is the position of the Hanafis and a group of the Salaf, and it is the choice of Ibn al-Mundhir, Ibn Baz, and Ibn `Uthaymin.
