Section III: Praying Maghrib and `Isha’ at Muzdalifah
Firstly: Combining Maghrib and `Isha’ at Muzdalifah
It is sunnah for pilgrims to combine the maghrib and `isha’ prayers in Muzdalifah at the time of `isha’. This is the position of the majority: the Malikis (according to the well-known position), Shafi`is, Hanbalis, Abu Yusuf of the Hanafi school, and a group of the Salaf.
Secondly: Combining Maghrib and `Isha’ with a single adhan and two iqamahs
Maghrib and `isha’ are combined with a single adhan and two iqamahs. This is the position of the Shafi`i and Hanbali schools, Zufar and al-Tahawi of the Hanafi school, and `Abd al-Malik ibn al-Majishun of the Maliki school. This is the chosen position of Ibn al-Mundhir, Ibn Hazm, Ibn al-Qayyim, al-Shawkani, Ibn Baz, and Ibn `Uthaymin.
Thirdly: The Fajr prayer at Muzdalifah
It is legislated that pilgrims pray fajr at the start of its time after spending the night in Muzdalifah. They go to the Sacred Monument (Jabal Quzah) and stop there, supplicating Allah Glorified and Exalted. This is by agreement of the four schools of jurisprudence.
