A person’s needs are connected to that which his companion possesses, and his companion will not exchange it without recompense. Therefore, trade provides a route for each party to achieve their objective, with the seller seeking the price and the buyer seeking the commodity. [25] See Al-Mughni by Ibn Qudamah (3/480).
The permissibility of trade ensures the survival of legally responsible adults (mukallifin) in the best manner, for a person may not be able to obtain the essentials they need except through buying. [26] Al-Bahr al-Ra’iq by Ibn Nujaym (5/282).
Trade allows people to obtain what another person possesses in a consensual manner, which avoids disputes, fighting, theft, deception, trickery, and other than that. [27] Sharh al-Zurqani `ala Mukhtasar Khalil (5/4) and Al-Sharh al-Saghir li al-Dardir ma` Hashiyat al-Sawi (3/12).
