Revocable divorce: The scholars are in consensus that if a man divorces his wife one time or two times after consummating the marriage, he can revoke his divorce and take back his wife during the waiting period. The consensus is transmitted by Ibn al-Munthir, al-Ghazaalee, and Ibn Taymiyyah.
2. Minor irrevocable divorce
a. If a divorce takes place before consummating the marriage: This has been discussed in the previous section.
b. If the waiting period of the divorcee has passed: The scholars are in consensus that if a man divorces his wife one time or two times and her waiting period has passed, she can be lawful to him only after marrying her with a new marriage contract. The consensus is transmitted by Ibn al-Munthir, al-Qurtubee, Ibn Taymiyyah, and Ibn Hajar.
3. Major irrevocable divorce: The scholars are in consensus that the woman whose husband divorced her three times cannot be lawful to him except after she marries another man [152] The purpose of marriage should not be to make her lawful to the former husband. and divorces her after consummating the marriage with her (i.e., having intercourse with her) and her waiting period ends. The consensus is transmitted by al-Tabaree, Ibn al-Munthir, Ibn Rushd, al-Nawawee, and Ibn Taymiyyah.
