Names
This surah is called Surat Al-Insan. [448] See: Al-Fayruzabadi: Basa?ir Dhawi At-Tamyiz, 1/493.
It is also called Surat Hal ata ?ala Al-insan (Was there not a period of time when man?). [449] See: Tafsir Ibn ?Ashur, 29/369.
It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to recite in Fajr on Fridays: Alif-Lam-Mim Tanzil This is the Revelation As-Sajdah and Hal ata ?ala Al-insan (Was there not a period of time when man?) Al-Insan 76. [450] Narrated by Al-Bukhari, 1068; Muslim, 880. ?
Virtues and characteristics
It is recommended to recite it in Fajr prayer on Friday, in the second rak?ah. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that in Fajr prayer on Fridays, the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to recite in the first rak?ah of Alif-Lam-Mim Tanzil This is the Revelation As-Sajdah 32 and in the second rak?ah Hal ata ?ala Al-insani hinun min Ad-Dahri lam yakun shay?an madhkuran (Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning?) Al-Insan 76. [451] Narrated by Al-Bukhari, 891; Muslim, 880.
Makki or Madani?
