Al-Fajr - سورة الفجر
Introduction of Sura


Names:
This surah is called Surat Al-Fajr. [516] See: Al-Fayruzabadi: Basa?ir Dhawi At-Tamyiz, 1/518; Tafsir Ibn ?Ashur, 30/311.

Makki or Madani?
Surat Al-Fajr is Makki, and it was narrated that there was consensus regarding that. [517] Those who narrated that there was consensus regarding that include: Ibn Al-Jawzi and Ash-Shawkani. See: Tafsir Ibn Al-Jawzi, 4/437; Ash-Shawkani: Fat-h Al-Qadir, 5/526.

Objectives:
The most important objectives of this surah include:
Reassuring the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). [518] See: Tafsir Ibn ?Ashur, 30/311.
Affirming the Last Day, the reckoning, and reward and punishment. [519] Al-Biqa?i: Masa?id An-Nazr,

Topics:
The most significant topics addressed in Surat Al-Fajr include:
1-
The surah begins with an oath sworn by five noble things.
2- A reminder to the polytheists of what befell the disbelievers who came before them, such as the people of 'Ad, Thamud, and Pharaoh.
3- Highlighting man's attitude to wealth and poverty; pointing out that having many blessings and enjoying a life of ease is not indicative of Allah's honouring a person, and poverty is not indicative of His humiliating him.
4- A description of the Day of Resurrection and the terrors that will occur on that Day, on which man will regret his heedlessness.
5- Glad tidings to those whose souls are filled with faith and reassurance.
