Overall meaning : Allah directs His believing servants when they encounter an enemy force in battle to remain firm and steadfast and to remember Allah frequently so that they may triumph.
He also commands them to obey Him and His Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, not to dispute with one another or else they will lose courage and their resolve will falter, and to have patience, pointing out that He is with those who are patient.
He further enjoins them not to be like the Quraysh unbelievers, who left their homes, full of self-conceit and bragging about their large numbers, to fight against the truth and to prevent people from embracing Islam. Allah has full knowledge of what they do.
