Overall meaning : The Almighty says: It is utterly impossible for the people of a city that We have destroyed because of their unbelief and wicked deeds to ever rise again and return to this present life to make up for what they have neglected and repent. When Gog and Magog are let loose from the barrier restraining them and they swiftly swarm down from every height, the Day of Resurrection—which Allah has promised will come—will draw close and its horrors will begin to emerge. the unbelievers’ eyes will stare in absolute horror. ‘Woe betide us!’ they will lament, ‘We were heedless of this day and too preoccupied with worldly joys to prepare for it; rather, we wronged ourselves because of our unbelief and our denying Allah’s signs.’
Then they will be told: ‘You, unbelievers and whatever you worshipped besides or instead of Allah, are but the fuel of Hell. Both you and they are bound to enter it. Had those false objects of your worship truly worthy of worship, they would not have entered it along with you. As it is, all will remain in it for ever.’ Those tormented in the Fire will groan in pain, and they will not be able to hear due to the horror of their torment.
