Overall meaning : Those who defy and oppose Allah and His Messenger will be disgraced, as were those who opposed Allah and His messengers before them disgraced. We have sent down clear verses in this Qur’an. A humiliating punishment awaits the unbelievers on the Day of Judgment when Allah will raise them all from the dead and inform them of what they have done in this life. Allah has kept count of their deeds though they have forgotten them. Allah is witness over all things.
Do you not perceive, Muhammad, that Allah knows all that is in the heavens and the earth? No three people confer secretly without Him being their fourth, seeing and hearing them by virtue of His all-encompassing knowledge; if five, He is their sixth, seeing and hearing them by virtue of His all-encompassing knowledge; whether fewer or more, He is with them, seeing and hearing them by virtue of His all-encompassing knowledge, wherever they may be. Then, on Resurrection Day, He will inform them of all the deeds they have done in this life. Allah has knowledge of all things.
