Overall meaning : Allah has given examples of unbelievers: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot. They were married to two of Allah’s righteous servants but betrayed them by rejecting their message. Their husbands could in no way protect them against Allah’s punishment, and they were told, ‘Enter both of you the Fire with all those who enter it.’
Allah has also given examples of believers: Pharaoh’s wife, who prayed, ‘My Lord, build for me, near You, a house in Paradise; save me from Pharaoh and his tyranny and unbelief and deliver me from Pharaoh’s unbelieving people.’ And Mary, the daughter of ‘Imran, who guarded her chastity, so Gabriel breathed into the opening of her outer garment by Our command, and his breath reached her womb, causing her to conceive her son, Jesus. She believed in her Lord’s words and in His revealed books, and she was of those wo diligently obeyed Allah’s commands.
