Overall meaning : Those who disbelieve in their Lord will suffer the punishment of Hell in the hereafter—an evil destination indeed! When the unbelievers are thrown into it, they will hear it terribly roaring as it boils due to its intense flames, almost bursting apart with rage at its dwellers! Every time a group of unbelievers is cast into it, its keepers will reproachfully ask them, ‘Did a warner not come to warn you against Allah’s punishment?’ ‘Yes,’ they will reply, ‘a warner did come to us, but we disbelieved and said, “Allah has revealed nothing at all. You have strayed far away from the truth!”’
The unbelievers will regretfully say, ‘Had we listened and used our intellect, we would not have been today among those who will dwell in Hell for ever.’ Thus will they confess their sins, but far removed will they be from Allah’s mercy!
