An-Nasr - سورة النصر
Introduction of Sura


Names:
This surah is called Surat An-Nasr. [604] See: Al-Fayruzabadi: Basa?ir Dhawi At-Tamyiz, 1/550; Tafsir Ibn ?Ashur, 30/587.

Virtues and characteristics
It is the last surah that was revealed in full, all at once.
It was narrated that Ubaydillah ibn ?Abdillah ibn Utbah said: Ibn Abbas said to me: Do you know the last surah of the Quran to be revealed in full? I said: Yes, When the victory of Allah has come and the conquest An-Nasr? 110. He said: You are right. [605] Narrated by Muslim, 3024. We have quoted above this report and the report which states that Surat Al-Ma'idah and Surat At-Tawbah were the last to be revealed.

Makki or Madani?
Surat An-Nasr is Madani; more than one of the commentators narrated that there was consensus regarding that. [606] Those who narrated that there was consensus regarding that include: Ibn ?Atiyyah, Ibn Al-Jawzi and Al-Qurtubi. The most important objectives of this surah include:

The most significant topics addressed in Surat An-Nasr include:
1- Allah's promise to His Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) of victory and conquest.
2- Foretelling that many people would enter Islam.
3- Allah's command to His Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) to persist in glorifying and praising Him and seeking His forgiveness.
