Overall meaning : The Almighty says: Mention to the people, Muhammad, the time when Lot said to his people, ‘Do you commit this utterly vile deed when you know it is such an atrocious abomination, lustfully seeking men instead of women?! Surely you are a foolish and ignorant people.’ But his people’s only response was to say to one another, ‘Expel Lot and his family from your city, for they are people who keep themselves pure and refrain from lusting after men!’
So We delivered Lot and all his household, except for his wife. We destined her to be of those who stayed behind and thus be doomed to punishment, and We poured down upon Lot’s people a rain of stones. Terrible indeed was the rain that fell on those who had been warned in vain!
