Overall meaning : The Almighty says: Is someone who believes in Allah and His messengers like someone who does not believe in them?! They are certainly not the same! Those who believe and do righteous deeds will have gardens of eternal abode with their Lord—a hospitable welcome prepared for them because of the good deeds they used to do in the life of the world.
As for those who defy Allah through their unbelief and acts of disobedience, their eternal abode will be the Fire. Whenever they try to escape from it they will be driven back into it, and will be told, ‘Taste the torment of the Fire, which you used to deny.’
We will surely make these unbelievers taste all manner of punishments in this world (trials and tribulations) before the greater punishment of the world to come, so that they may repent and turn to Us.
No one does greater wrong that those who arrogantly turn away from the revelations of their Lord when they are reminded of them. We will certainly inflict Our retribution on such evildoers.
