Overall meaning : Allah Almighty says: When Our command to destroy Noah’s unbelieving people came to pass, as We had promised Noah, and the oven gushed forth water to portend the imminent punishment and to be a sign for him for the start of the Flood, We said to Noah: Take into the Ark a pair (the male and female) of each kind of living creature, and your family—except those on whom Our sentence of destruction has already been passed. Also take into it the believers among your people.’ Yet only a few people believed along with him.
'Embark,’ Noah said to the faithful. 'In the Name of Allah it will set sail and in Allah’s Name it will cast anchor. Surely my Lord is All-Forgiving, All-Merciful.’
The Ark sailed with them, Allah states, amidst waves that kept rising until they became as high as the mountains. Noah cried out to his son, who stood apart, far from the Ark, saying, 'Embark with us, son, and do not be with the unbelievers who will soon drown.’
His son replied, 'I will seek refuge on a mountain, which will protect me from the water and save me from drowning.’ Noah said, 'Today there is no protection for anyone from Allah’s judgement, and from drowning and destruction, except by the Most Merciful—Almighty Allah. The waves surged in between them, separating father from son, and he was amongst the drowned. Then Allah commanded the earth, after the destruction of Noah’s people, to swallow up its water and the sky to cease raining, and the floodwater receded and started to decrease and sink into the earth. Allah’s command to destroy Noah’s unbelieving people and save the believers amongst them was carried out, the Ark came to rest on Mount Judi and it was said, 'Destroyed and excluded from Allah’s grace and mercy are the wrongdoers!’
