Overall meaning : The Almighty says: Joseph’s brothers returned to their father, and they informed him about the special honour with which Egypt’s Chief Minister had treated them and the lavish hospitality he had offered them. Then they pleaded, 'Father, he will not give us any further food supplies unless we take with us our brother we had told him about, so send him along with us so that we may receive our full measure of grain, and we promise to take good care of him.’ Their father said, 'How will my trusting him to your care be different from entrusting his brother Joseph before when you broke your promise to look after him? I do not trust your promise to safeguard him against harm, but I do trust Allah’s protection, who is the Best Guardian and Protector and the Most Merciful of the merciful. I pray that He will have mercy on me and protect him and restore him to me.’
Then when they opened their saddlebags and discovered that the money they had spent on the goods had been returned to them, they said, 'Father, what more could we ask for? Here is our money, which the Chief Minister fully returned to us; therefore, rest assured that our brother will be safe and send him with us to bring more food for our family, and we will take good care of our brother and receive an extra camel-load of grain; for the Chief Minister gives each person a camel-load of grain, which is nothing for him and he can easily give it.’ Jacob said to them, 'I will by no means send him with you until you make me a solemn promise and swear by Allah that you will certainly bring him back to me, unless you are overwhelmed by circumstances beyond your control.’ When they had given him their solemn promise in Allah’s name, he said, 'Allah is witness of what we say. He is a sufficient witness and He alone is sufficient to protect us.’
