Overall meaning : The Almighty says: When our angel messengers came to Abraham with the happy news of the birth of Isaac and Jacob, they said to him, ‘Allah has sent us to destroy the people of Lot’s city, for they are truly wicked wrongdoers.’ Abraham said, ‘But Lot lives there.’ ‘We know full well who lives there,’ they said, ‘We will certainly save him and his family except for his wife, who will be among those who will stay behind and be destroyed.’
Then when the angels arrived at Lot’s, he was troubled and distressed by their arrival, as he feared they might come to any harm at the hands of his people. ‘Have no fear and do not grieve,’ they reassured him. ‘We will surely save you and your family except for your wife, who is one of those who will stay behind and be destroyed. We will certainly rain down upon the people of this city stones from the heavens for their unbelief and wicked deeds.’ And We left of that city a clear sign for a people who reflect and use their reason.
