Overall meaning : Almighty Allah says: It is Allah who creates you, people, in a state of weakness, then He gives you strength after weakness, then after strength weakness with grey hair and old age. He creates whatever He wills; He is the All-Knowing, the All-Powerful.
On the Day of Resurrection, the unbelievers will swear that they did not stay in the worldly life for more than one hour. In like manner did they utter lies in the life of the world and thus were they turned away from the truth.
But those endowed with knowledge and faith will say to them, ‘You stayed there and spent the time that Allah had decreed and written in the Preserved Tablet until the Day of resurrection; and not for one hour, as you falsely claim! This is, then, the Day of Resurrection, but you did not know in the worldly life that you would be resurrected after your death and called to account, and so you denied it and made light of it.’ On the Day of Resurrection, the excuses of those who used to deny the resurrection in the life of the world will not benefit them, nor will they be allowed to make amends or asked to do what would make them earn Allah’s pleasure through repentance and faith to be spared His reproof and wrath.
