Overall meaning : The Almighty mentions the rest of Luqman’s commandments to his son: ‘My dear son, if something weighs as little as a mustard seed and is hidden inside a rock or in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will surely bring it forth; for Allah has full knowledge of all things, subtle and unseen, and nothing whatsoever can be hidden from Him. My dear son, duly perform the prescribed prayers, enjoin people to obey Allah, forbid them from associating partners with Him and from committing sins and endure with fortitude whatever harm and trials befall you in the process. That is a duty Allah has made incumbent on His servants, and it requires firm resolve. Do not turn your face in contempt away from people, nor strut arrogantly on the earth. Surely Allah does not love anyone who is arrogant and boastful. Be modest in your bearing: walk in humility and in a dignified manner; and lower your voice, for the ugliest and the most disagreeable of all sounds is that of donkeys when they bray.’
