Overall meaning : The revelation of this Qur’an is from Allah, the All-Mighty who holds sway over all His creation, the All-Wise who puts everything in its perfect place.
We have revealed to you, Muhammad, the Qur’an with the truth; therefore, worship Allah alone—devoting all acts of worship exclusively and sincerely to Him. Pure devotion and obedience that is free from associating others with Allah and from showing off one’s good deeds is due to Allah alone.
The idolaters who worship false deities besides Allah say, ‘We only worship them so that they may bring us nearer to Allah.’ Allah will judge between them and their likes and the believers on the Day of Resurrection concerning all matters about which they differ in this world. Allah does not guide those who invent lies about Him and are vehement unbelievers.
Had Allah desired to have offspring, He would have chosen whomever He pleased out of His own creation, without entrusting such matter to the idolaters to choose for him whatever they wish. Glory be to Allah and far exalted is He above having offspring and whatever the idolaters attribute to Him! He is the One and Only God in His being, names, attributes and actions; the Almighty who holds absolute sway over all His creation.
