Overall meaning : Say, Muhammad, to those idolaters among your people, ‘Have you considered those that you invoke besides Allah? Show me what part of the earth they have created so you have reason enough to worship them besides Allah?! Or do they have any share along with Allah in the creation, ownership and management of the heavens?! Bring me a book that was revealed before this Qur’an or some evidence or other vestige of knowledge in support of your claim, if what you say is true!
Who could be further astray and more ignorant than those who call on false gods besides Allah that do not answer their prayers even until the Day of resurrection, and which are even unaware of their prayers? When Allah gathers people together on the Day of Resurrection for judgement, these gods, which the idolaters now invoke besides Him, will declare themselves their enemies and will disown their worship in this world!
