Overall meaning : And listen out for the day, Muhammad, when the Angel will call out people from a nearby place—the day when all will hear the mighty Blast of resurrection in truth. That is the day when people will come forth from their graves and gather before Us for judgement and recompense.
It is We who bring the dead back to life and cause those alive to die, and to Us will all people be returned on Resurrection Day. Beware of the day when the earth splits open above the dead: They will emerge alive from their graves and come forth hastening to The Place of Gathering (the plains of Judgement Day). That gathering will indeed be easy for Us to accomplish.
We know best what the unbelievers say, Muhammad. You are not sent to coerce them into following the truth. Your duty is only to deliver the message. Remind, then, with the Qur’an those who fear the punishment with which I have threatened those who disobey Me.
