Overall meaning : The past unbelieving nations denied their messengers just as the Quraysh now deny their Prophet. Whenever a messenger came to those nations before them, they also said, ‘He is but a sorcerer or a madman.’ Have, then, the unbelievers handed down such a statement accusing their messengers of being magicians or madmen from one generation to the next? By no means! They express the same opinion because they have all defiantly disobeyed Allah’s commands and transgressed His limits.
Pay no heed to them, Muhammad. You will not incur Our blame in so doing, for you have faithfully conveyed Our message to them; yet go on reminding all, for such a reminder will certainly benefit the believers.
