Overall meaning : Pharaoh also, and the unbelievers before him, and the people of Lot—the inhabitants of the Ruined Cities—all committed the wrong actions of unbelief, idolatry, rejection of the truth and oppression. Each of them disobeyed and rebelled against their Lord’s messenger sent to them, and so Allah utterly destroyed them, inflicting on them extraordinarily terrible punishment.
When the Flood waters rose high and overflowed beyond all limits to drown Noah’s people, We carried your ancestors in Noah’s floating Ark, so that We may make this a reminder and admonition to you, believers, and that those who attentively listen to what Allah says will heed and benefit from it.
