Names
This surah is called Surat An-Nazi?at. [468] See: Tafsir Ibn ?Ashur, 30/59.
Makki or Madani?
Surat An-Nazi?at is Makki; more than one of the commentators narrated that there was consensus regarding that. [469] Those who narrated that there was consensus regarding that include Ibn ?Atiyyah, Ibn Al-Jawzi and Al-Qurtubi. Objectives
The most important objectives of this surah include:
Affirming that the resurrection is true; highlighting some aspects of the terrors of the Day of Resurrection; refuting those who disbelieve in the resurrection, and warning and alarming them.
