Overall meaning :
Almighty Allah says: Tell the people, Muhammad, about Abraham when he prayed to his Lord, saying, ‘My Lord, make this city of Makkah secure, so that all those in it feel safe, and keep me and my children away from the worship of idols. My Lord, many people have strayed from the path of truth because of these idols. Whoever, therefore, follows me by worshipping You alone indeed follows my religion and my ways; as for those who disobey me and choose unbelief, I leave them to You to determine what You do with them. You are All-Forgiving, All-Merciful: You can inspire and help them turn to You in repentance, believe in You and worship You alone. Our Lord, I have settled some of my offspring in a barren valley with neither vegetation nor water, close to Your Sacred House. Our Lord, I have only done so in order that they may duly perform the prayers, remember You and worship You alone. Make, therefore, some people’s hearts drawn towards them and make them yearn to make pilgrimage to Your Sacred House, and provide them with sustenance and all sorts of fruits, so that they may give thanks and to be a means for them to persevere in obeying You.’ Allah answered his prayer.
‘Our Lord,’ Abraham further prayed, ‘You certainly know what we conceal and what we reveal. Nothing whatsoever, whether on earth or in in the heavens, escapes Allah’s knowledge. All praise is for Allah who has has bestowed on me Ishmael and Isaac despite my old age. Indeed, my Lord hears and answers all prayers. My Lord, make me constant in duly observing the prayers, and of my seed likewise. Our Lord, accept my supplication. Our Lord, forgive me, my parents and all the believers on the Day of Resurrection, when You will judge people.’
