Overall meaning : After this summary, Allah Almighty proceeds to tell their story in detail: We will relate to you, Muhammad, their story as it actually happened. The People of the Cave were youths who believed in Allah, their Lord; We increased them in guidance and made them more steadfast in their faith. We strengthened their hearts with faith and constancy so that they stood up and said, ‘Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. Never will we worship or invoke any deity other than Him; for if we did, we should indeed have uttered an outrageous lie.’ Then they said to each other, ‘These people of ours worship false gods other than Allah. Why do they not bring any clear proof in support of their claim that their deities are deserving of worship? No one does greater wrong than those who invent falsehood against Allah by ascribing partners to Him.’
