Overall meaning : The Almighty says: Moses and Al-Khadhir set out. As they were walking along the seashore, a boat passed by them, and they asked its owners to ferry them across. After they had embarked the boat, Al-Khadhir bored a hole in it by pulling a plank off. ‘Is it to drown its passengers that you have bored a hole in it? Moses disapprovingly said. ‘You have done something really dreadful.’ ‘Did I not tell you right from the outset,’ Al-Khadhir said, ‘that you would not bear with me? ‘Pardon my forgetting the condition you imposed on me,’ Moses said apologetically. ‘Do not be hard on me while I am learning from you, and treat me with leniency and compassion.’
