Overall meaning : You know full well, Messenger, that Allah has absolute knowledge of everything in the heavens and the earth. All this is written in the Preserved Tablet. That is easy enough for Allah, whose will no one can possibly frustrate.
The Quraysh unbelievers worship besides Allah gods for which He has sent down no sanction or convincing proof at all, nor do they have any knowledge regarding the falsehoods they forge and attribute to Allah. These wrongdoers will have none to help them or protect them against Allah’s punishment
When the verses of the Qur’an are recited to them in all their clarity, you can perceive utter repugnance and hate on their faces. They all but assault the believers who call them to Allah’s religion and recite His revelations to them. Say to them, Muhammad, ‘Shall I tell you of something far worse than the evil you harbour within themselves and the repugnance and hate you feel when the Qur’an is recited to you? It is the Fire which Allah has prepared for the unbelievers in the life to come. What an evil and miserable destination!
