Overall meaning :
Allah Almighty mentions to His Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, how the angels promptly complied with their Lord’s orders to them to prostrate themselves before Adam, peace be upon him, when he commanded them to do so, and how Satan arrogantly refused to obey his Lord’s command when He asked him to do so, hence his rejection of faith and fall into unbelief.
He further mentions that He allowed Adam and his wife, Eve, peace be upon them both, to dwell in Paradise and to eat of its infinite provision to their hearts’ content without toil or trouble on their part, with the exception of a certain tree which He pointed out to them, warning them of ever approaching it and stating that if they did they would certainly be violating His limits.
Satan tempted them and made an evil suggestion to them to disobey Allah, and thus caused them to leave the state of bliss they were in. therefore, Allah Almighty commanded them to get down to earth where they will be enemies to each other, to settle on earth so long as they lived and be buried underground after their death and to stay in their graves until the Day of Resurrection.
Allah then taught Adam, peace be upon him, certain words through inspiration so he could plead through them for forgiveness for the sin he had committed. Adam persevered in sincerely praying to Allah for forgiveness using them, and Allah eventually forgave him and accepted his repentance, for He is the Acceptor of Repentance, the All-Merciful towards His believing servants.
Allah ordered Adam, Eve and Satan to get down from Paradise, all together, informing them that if anything that guides to the truth comes to them from Him, be it a book or a messenger, and they follow them, they will surely enjoy total peace and eternal bliss. As for those who deny the truth and reject His signs, they will be the inhabitants of the Fire, in which they will abide for all eternity.
