Overall meaning : Allah Almighty informs His servants that by laying down such laws for them He intends to show them what is lawful and unlawful, to guide them along the paths of those who have preceded them from among the prophets and their followers, and to help them turn to Him and accept their repentance, for He is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
While Allah wishes to pardon His servants, those from amongst the unbelievers and the depraved, who only desire worldly pleasures and follow their own whims, want them to deviate considerably from the truth and follow falsehood, and to leave what Allah has made lawful for them and do what He has forbidden.
The Almighty desires to make His laws simple and easy for His servants to follow, for He knows that man was created weak.
