Overall meaning : The Almighty states that He does not like any of His servants to utter harsh, hurtful words, except for those who have been truly wronged, in which case they will not incur any sin if they voice their complaint and the harm inflicted on them, such as by complaining about those who have wronged them, telling people they are unjust or invoking Allah against them. Allah hears all and knows all.
He then addresses His servants, saying that whether they do good openly or in secret or pardon those who offend them, they should remember that He pardons the sins of His servants even though He is capable of punishing them for committing them, and so they should also forgive those who offend them.
Those who disbelieve in Allah and His messengers, He further points out, and want to make a distinction between belief in Him and belief in His messengers by believing in Him and denying His messengers, and say, ‘We believe in some but we deny others,’ thereby seeking to tread a path that leads them to Allah are in truth unbelievers, and their belief in some messengers will not benefit them in the least. He warns that He has prepared for the unbelievers a humiliating punishment.
But as for those who believe in Allah and His messengers and make no distinction between them by believing in all of them, He promises—and He is always true to His word—to grant their rewards in full. Allah is indeed All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate.
