Overall meaning :
Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, informs us that He will not guide those who have lapsed into unbelief after having embraced Islam, having borne witness that Allah’s Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is true and having received clear evidence confirming his truthfulness. How can they possibly be deserving of divine guidance?! By no means will Allah guide to the truth those who wrong themselves by forsaking the truth after having known it and following falsehood despite their knowledge of its falsity. Then He mentions the punishment He has in store for these wrongdoers in this world and in the world to come: He will exclude them from His grace and mercy, all His creation among the angels and people will curse them, and they be immersed in this curse for all eternity. Their punishment will not be lightened or delayed, nor will they be reprieved.
Excepted from such horrible end, Allah Almighty states, are those who afterwards turn to Him in repentance and do righteous deeds. For these, He will forgive their sins and conceal their misdeeds for them, all because of His boundless kindness, grace, mercy and compassion to His creation.
