Overall meaning :
Allah instructss His Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to say to the Jews: All that Allah Almighty has said and legislated is the ultimate truth; therefore, follow the religion of Abraham, a man of pure faith who was never of those who ascribe partners to Allah.
Then He mentions that the first house ever set up for mankind to worship Him is the Sacred House in Makkah. It is a blessed place with numerous religious and worldly benefits, such as multiple rewards and abundant provisions. It is also a beacon of guidance for all mankind.
In this house there are clear proofs of Allah’s oneness, His wisdom, greatness and power, among His other lofty attributes. In it are also signs of its blessedness, including the places where Abraham, peace be upon him, performed the hajj rituals and the fact that whoever enters it will be safe from any harm. Allah has made it the duty of whoever is able and can afford the journey from among those who are legally responsible to visit the Sacred House and perform the hajj rituals. Those who deny the obligation of the pilgrimage should know that Allah does not stand in need of them and their pilgrimage, nor does he stand in need of any of His creation, for that matter.
