Overall meaning : The hypocrites falsely say, ‘We believe in Allah and the Messenger, and we obey them,’ but then, after that, some of them turn away by contradicting such claims. Surely these are not believers.
When they are called to put their disputes to Allah and His Messenger for judgement, some of them reject their judgement; but if the right is on their side, they come to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in all obedience. Is their turning away from the Messenger’s judgement due to some disease of hypocrisy in their hearts? Is it because they doubt his prophethood? Or is it because they fear that Allah’s Messenger will issue an unjust decision regarding them?! No, the truth is that they are themselves wrongdoers for stubbornly rejecting Allah’s Law.
