Overall meaning : The believer in Pharaoh’s household then said, ‘My people, I fear for you, if you kill Moses, a severe punishment similar to that that truck on the days on which Allah destroyed the communities of old that joined forces against their messengers, a condition like that of Noah’s people and the tribes of ‘Aad and Thamud and those who came after them: They all denied their messengers and so Allah destroyed them. Allah does not will any injustice for His slaves!
‘My people, I fear for you the Day of Judgement—the day when you try in vain to flee from Allah’s torment, with no one to protect you from it. Whomever Allah leaves to stray from the truth will have none to guide him.
‘Joseph came to your ancestors, before Moses, with clear evidence of the truth; however, following in your ancestors’ footsteps, you have never ceased to cast doubt on the message Joseph brought. When he finally died, your ancestors said out of sheer relief and without any evidence to support such a claim, ‘Allah will never send another messenger after him.’ Thus does Allah lead astray everyone who transgresses His limits and doubts the truth!
‘Those who dispute Allah’s signs testifying to His oneness and absolute power, with no proof given to them by Allah through His messengers, are held in immense abhorrence by Allah and the believers. Thus does Allah seal up the heart of anyone who arrogantly rejects the truth and oppresses people.’
