Overall meaning :
Therefore, be steadfast, Muhammad, and bear the unbelievers’ harm with patience. Allah’s promise is true, and He will surely fulfil His promise to you. Whether We cause you to see part of the punishment with which We have threatened them in your life, or whether We cause you to die before you see it, to Us will they be returned, and We will repay them according to their deeds.
We sent forth messengers before you, Muhammad. Of them there are some whose story We have related to you, and some whose story We have not related to you. It is not for any messenger to bring forth a miraculous sign testifying to his truthfulness without Allah’s permission. When the time Allah has appointed to decide between the messengers and their people comes, He will judge between them with absolute justice. The messengers and their followers will be saved, but the followers of falsehood will then be brought to loss and ruin.
It is Allah who has provided you with grazing livestock, that you may ride on some and eat the flesh of others. You have other benefits in them too. They take you to distant places to which you wish to travel, carrying you by land as ships carry you by sea. Allah shows you His signs bearing witness to His oneness and power. Which, then, of Allah’s signs do you deny?
