Overall meaning : The Day of Resurrection is the appointed time for the judgement between all creatures. On that day no friends or relatives will be of the least avail to one another, nor will they be saved from Allah’s torment, except those believers upon whom Allah will have bestowed his grace and mercy. He is the All-Mighty, the All-Merciful.
The Tree of Az-Zaqqum in Hell will provide the wicked unbeliever’s food. Like stinking, thick black extremely hot liquid, it will seethe in the bellies of those eating it, as boiling water babbles and seethes. The Angels of Punishment (the Guards of Hell) will be told, ‘Size this unbeliever violently and drag him roughly into the midst of the Blazing Fire; then pour out scalding water over his head.’ He will be mockingly told, ‘Taste this punishment. You used to claim to be the mighty and the honourable in the life of the world, but today you are utterly humiliated and disgraced! This is the very torment that you, unbelievers, used to doubt and argue about in the life of the world!’
