Overall meaning : It is not possible for a human being that Allah should speak to him in this life except by inspiration; or from behind a veil, in which case he can hear His words but cannot see Him; or through an angel that Allah sends to reveal to him, by His permission, whatever He wills. Allah is All-High. All-Wise.
And thus, too, have We revealed to you, Muhammad, the Qur’an by Our command. Before such revelation, you did not know what the Qur’an is nor what faith is, but We have made this Qur’an a light for people whereby We guide those of Our servants whom We please.
You, Muhammad, are truly guiding people to a straight path—the path of Allah, to whom belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. Surely to Allah alone will all matters return for decision.
