Overall meaning : Despite all the miracles Moses performed and the signs and wonders he showed Pharaoh and his people to prove his truthfulness, the Almighty states, only a few Israelite youths among his people believed him while fearing that Pharaoh and their own nobles might persecute them and turn them away from their religion. Pharaoh was indeed a tyrant in the land, who persisted in his unbelief and wickedness and transgressed all bounds. Moses reassuringly said to his people, 'If you believe in Allah, my people, then place your trust in Him if you have truly surrendered yourselves to Him.’ They said, 'We have placed our trust in Allah and to Him we have entrusted all our affairs.’ 'Our Lord,’ they prayed, 'do not make them prevail over us lest they are led away from the truth and become more tyrannical, thinking they are better than us and believing that were we following the truth they would not overpower us. And save us, by Your grace, from the unbelievers.’
