Names

Makki or Madani?


Surat Yunus is Makki; more than one of the scholars narrated that there was consensus regarding that. [108] Those who narrated that there was consensus on that include: Al-Fayruzabadi, Al-Biqa?i, and Muhammad Rashid Rida. Objectives


The most important objectives of Surat Yunus include:

Affirming the message of Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).
Affirming that Allah, may He be Glorified and Exalted, alone is deserving of worship.
Affirming the gathering and requital on the Day of resurrection; reminding us that all creatures will return to Allah, and humanity will be divided into two categories, believers and disbelievers; and the requital of each of them.

Affirming that the Qur?an was sent down from Allah, may He be Glorified and Exalted,, and it is very clear that the claim that it was fabricated is false; issuing a challenge to the polytheists to produce a surah like it.
Affirming that the knowledge of Allah, may He be Glorified and Exalted, encompasses all things, and pointing out the clear evidence of divine power.
Glad tidings to the close friends of Allah in the life of this world and in the hereafter; pointing out that they are distinct from others; consoling the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) for what the disbelievers say.
The command to show joy and happiness with Islam and the Qur?an.
Consoling the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) by mentioning part of the story of Nuh (peace be upon him), and the story of Musa (peace be upon him) and the Children of Israel with the people of Pharaoh; and how the people of Yunus were saved by virtue of his sincere faith in Allah at the time of despair.
Affirming the prophethood of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and commanding him to be patient in bearing the harshness and persecution of the polytheists.
