Overall meaning : Ask those idolaters who deny the resurrection, Muhammad: Is it they who are stronger as a creation or other things, such as the heavens and the earth, that We have created? We created them out of mere sticky clay!
You marvel, Muhammad, that they deny the resurrection, while they mock at your disapproval of them and your marvel at how they can deny the resurrection. When they are reminded and admonished with the Qur’an, they pay no heed; and when they are shown a miracle bearing witness to your truthfulness, Muhammad, they simply ridicule it, saying, ‘This is nothing but clear downright magic! What! When we have died and turned to dust and bones, will we then be brought back to life along with our forefathers?’
Say to them, Muhammad, ‘Yes, indeed. Allah will bring you back to life, and you will then be utterly humbled!’ There will be but one blast of the Trumpet, and they will come forth from their graves alive again, looking around them in utter horror, waiting to see what will be done with them. ‘Woe betide us!’ they will say. ‘This is the Day of Judgement and Recompense.’ They will then be told, ‘This is the Day of the Final Decision which you used to deny in the life of the world.’
