Overall meaning : Elias (Elijah) was one of the messengers. He said to his people, ‘Will you not fear Allah by observing what He commands and avoiding what He forbids? How can you invoke a so-called lord instead of Allah and forsake the worship of the Best Creator—your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?’ But they denied him, and will thus be delivered up to punishment. Not so Allah’s true servants whom He had chosen and purified to obey Him: they were saved from punishment. We bestowed on Elias the praise of later generations: ‘Allah’s peace be on Elias.’ Thus do We reward those who do good. He was truly one of Our believing servants.
