Overall meaning : Allah Almighty says: This is a declaration of freedom from all obligations by Allah and His Messenger to all the idolaters who associate partners with Allah with whom you, Muslims, have made a treaty but they have breached its terms; therefore, you may go about freely in the land, O Arab idolaters, for four months—which is the grace period—without suffering any harm whatsoever at the hands of the Muslims, but know that you will not escape Allah’s punishment if He wishes to inflict it on you, and that Allah will humiliate the unbelievers.
