Overall meaning : Allah Almighty says: How can those who ascribe partners to Allah have a covenant of safety with Allah and His Messenger, may Allah bless him and great him peace? This is not at all likely, except for those with whom you, believers, have made a covenant in the vicinity of the Sacred Mosque on the day Al-Hudaybiyyah treaty was concluded. Adhere to the terms of the treaty until the end of the term agreed with them as long as they do so, and do not be the first to violate it. Allah loves the righteous who do what He commands and avoid what he forbids.
How can those who associate partners with Allah have a covenant of safety since if they prevail against you, O believers, they will show you no mercy, nor will they respect any tie of kinship with you or any treaty you have concluded with them? They seek to please you by saying kind words to you, but their hearts belie what they say; and most of them are transgressors.
