Overall meaning : Allah forbids the believers to take their fathers and brothers for helpers and supporters if they choose to disbelieve in Allah in preference to belief, stating that those who take them as helpers and supporters are wrongdoers.
He then commands His Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to say to them: If your fathers, your children, your brothers, your spouses and all your relatives, the wealth you have striven hard to acquire, the business you fear will fall off if you migrate and the homes you lovingly cherish and do not want to leave are dearer to you than Allah and His Messenger and fighting to support Allah’s religion, then wait until Allah inflicts punishment on you sooner or later. Allah does not guide the disobedient evildoers.
