Overall meaning : Allah Almighty says: The Prophet and the believers should not pray for forgiveness for the idolaters who associate partners with Allah even if they are their relatives, after it has become clear to them that they will be the inhabitants of Hell, to abide in it forever, if they die in unbelief.
He explains that Abraham prayed for forgiveness for his father only because he had promised him to do so. When it became clear to Abraham, however, that his father was an enemy of Allah, he renounced him and refrained from praying for his forgiveness. Indeed, Abraham was compassionate, soft-hearted and long-suffering, and he frequently prayed to his Lord and humbled himself before Him.
The Almighty then states that it is not His way to cause people to stray after He has guided them to the true faith until He has made clear to them what they should avoid so as to guard against straying. Surely, Allah has full knowledge of everything.
The Almighty further asserts that it is He to Whom alone belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, that He alone gives life and causes death and that people have no one besides Him to benefit them, protect them or support them.
