Overall meaning : Allah, Exalted be He, mentions that when His punishment fell upon Pharaoh’s people, they beseeched Moses to call upon Allah by what He had commanded him to pray to Him so He would remove such torment, and they made a solemn promise that if He relieved them of their torment they would believe him and what he had brought them and that they would let the Israelites go with him. But when Allah relieved them of the torment and gave them a respite until the time He had appointed for their destruction, they went back on the promise they had solemnly made, and so He inflicted retribution on them for denying His signs and paying no heed to them.
Allah then made the Israelites, who had been persecuted and oppressed, inherit all the eastern and the western lands which He had blessed, fulfilled His good promise to them to destroy their enemies and give them dominion over the land as a result of their patience, and He utterly destroyed all building and farms that Pharaoh and his people had built and all the structures and palaces they had erected
